Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was key to persuading Bobby Clark to quit Newcastle United for the Reds today.

The Evening Chronicle says Klopp held face to face talks with Clark to lure him to Liverpool.

The inspirational German boss, who has won the Premier League and Champions League with the Reds, is understood to have told the 16-year-old he will get the chance to be a big part of the future at Anfield.

For now he will take his place in the Liverpool Under-18 side under coach Marc Bridge-Wilkinson and play in the FA Youth Cup whilst also getting the chance to push for the Under-23s.

Klopp has shown he is prepared to give young players a chance at Liverpool such as Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott with the former Borussia Dortmund gaffer handing 30 Academy products a chance.

Newcastle have now lost the services of the England youth international, who is the son of former Newcastle captain Lee Clark, and will only pick up a nominal amount of compensation.
