Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is hoping the club's medical room clears during the international break.

The Mirror says much of Arteta's spending has been focused on central positions, with Ben White and Albert Sambi Lokonga amongst the summer additions.

They followed last year's headline captures Gabriel Magalhaes and Thomas Partey, both of whom have been ruled out of the early parts of the season.

Arteta had a partnership between Gabriel and White in mind when he completed a deal for the Brighton centre-back.

Lokonga's encouraging early season performances amid chaos around him also generated hopes he could be an heir to Granit Xhaka and add more dynamism alongside Partey.

The international break provides a perfect chance to regroup with Gabriel back in training after a knee injury last week and Partey aiming to return next week.

By the time Arsenal face Norwich on September 11, there are hopes the pair could both be ready for a first-team return.
