17,150 Covid-19 cases today, 8,412 in Klang Valley

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia today logged 17,150 Covid-19 infections in yet another day of cases above the 17,000 mark.

Selangor claims 6,326 fresh cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (2,086) and Kedah (1,511).

Johor saw 1,045 cases, Sabah (1,002), Negri Sembilan (809), Penang (752), Perak (693), Melaka (686), Pahang (676), Sarawak (578), Kelantan (459) and Terengganu (429).

Putrajaya recorded 72 infections, Perlis (21) and Labuan (5).

The latest figures take the national tally to 1,130,422 cases since the pandemic began.

Today saw 11,326 recoveries, taking the cumulative tally to 925,965.

There were 160 deaths, making a total of 9,184.

1,059 people are in intensive care units, with 531 on respiratory support. – The Vibes, August 1, 2021
