James moved from Real Madrid to Merseyside a year ago on the recommendation of Benitez's predecessor Carlo Ancelotti. He has a deal at Goodison Park to 2022.
For the moment, the midfielder has no offers on the table. However, AC Milan are monitoring his situation closely.
