Barcelona lost Gerard Pique only 30 minutes into their 1-1 draw at Athletic Bilbao.
The defender had to leave the field at San Mames after half an hour.
The Catalan has been struggling with a problem in his right calf and doctors had recommended a period of rest. Nevertheless, the 34-year-old started the game against Athletic Club in Bilbao, but he didn't last long.
Early on it was clear that Pique was uncomfortable, adding to the Blaugrana's woes as Los Leones had started strongly and were causing problems in attack.
After 30 minutes, the veteran had to ask to be replaced and coach Ronald Koeman sent on Ronald Araujo as Pique limped off.
