Mikel Arteta says Arsenal are enduring an 'unprecedented' injury crisis at the club.

The Gunners were without nine senior players for the 2-0 loss to Chelsea on Sunday.

Thomas Partey, Ben White, Alexandre Lacazette, Willian and Gabriel were just some of the names absent on the team-sheet.

"It is really challenging. At the moment we are missing nine players and the majority of them are big senior players," said Arteta.

"It is what we have. We put out there a team that would probably be unprecedented in the history of this football club.

"But credit to the boys, how they are trying, the passion they are bringing to the team. They are playing with a lot of courage in this situation, which is tough.

"They are trying their best and at the moment it is not enough to win football matches."
