Former Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott insists signing Tottenham striker Harry Kane won't guarantee a successful Premier League title defence.
Lescott believes Kane's arrival at City will boost their attacking options, but he argued the opposition will be stronger than ever this season.
"Kane is a ridiculous talent, one of the best strikers in the world, but I don't think his signing for City would decide the title race," said Lescott to the Sunday World.
"If he was leaving one of the main title rivals to go to City, then it would have been different, but Spurs are not one of the big contenders so it doesn't have as big an impact.
"Chelsea and Liverpool are still going to be strong if Kane goes to City, but the other contenders are still going to win the games they are going to win whatever happens with Kane."
