Manchester United chiefs are insisting Edinson Cavani will stay as Cristiano Ronaldo arrives.

The Mirror says Ronaldo is set to be a monstrous edition to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's front line, with the United paying Juventus an initial fee of €15million (£12.8m) and a potential €8million (£6.8m) in add-ons.

That means Cavani's place in the starting XI is under threat but club have no plans to sell the striker.

The 34-year-old has spent most of his Red Devils career playing in matches behind closed doors and was set to leave this summer, but the attraction of playing in front of over 75,000 fans is believed to be a large part of the Cavani's decision to extend his contract and stay for another season as United ensured they had an out-and-out striker head into 2021-22.
