West Ham United are pursuing Lille midfielder Jonathan Bamba as an alternative to Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard.
The Hammers wished to bring Lingard back to the club after his impressive second half of the season loan spell at the London Stadium outfit last term.
But United have set a £25 million price, which West Ham are not prepared to meet.
According to the Daily Express, the Hammers have identified Bamba as a better option to add attacking depth to their squad.
While Bamba is rated at a similar price to Lingard, he is three years younger and may have a higher resale value if he improves at West Ham.
Bamba managed six goals and nine assists for Lille during their Ligue 1 title success last term.
