Real Mallorca are re-signing Takefusa Kubo from Real Madrid.

Marca says Kubo will return to Mallorca and continue his career in the Spanish top-flight after Real Madrid agreed a deal to let him leave on loan until June 2022.

Kubo arrives after helping Japan to a fourth-place finish in the Tokyo Olympics, but he will now return to Mallorca to continue his promising development, with it unlikely he'll have an open squad spot at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu until Vinicius Jr becomes nationalised.

Real Sociedad also made an offer to take Kubo on loan, but the option to return to an environment he knows well from the 2019/20 season weighed heavily on the youngster's decision, and he ultimately elected to turn down the San Sebastian club.

In his debut season with Real Mallorca, Kubo scored four goals in 35 matches, 24 of which came with his a member of the starting XI.
