Former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin says Manchester United played like Premier League contenders after their 5-1 rout of Leeds United.
Fernandes struck a hat-trick in front of a full house at Old Trafford.
Nevin later said: "Everyone's been mentioning Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool but, after today, when you've not got Varane, Martial, Sancho, Cavani, Lingard or Rashford starting, the question will be asked: are Manchester United in the race for the title?
"If you get Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes playing that well - on the same pitch, at the same time - they are a massive danger to anybody, not just in the Premier League but in Europe.
"They were fabulous, world class, and both of them working together was stunning to see. It was a joy to be part of that, to see that and hear the noise of the fans being back in."
