Manchester United are hopeful of retaining Edinson Cavani for the rest of the season.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Cavani is not happy at missing the 1-1 away draw to Southampton earlier in August.

He is also displeased at the Premier League clubs' decision to not allow players from red list countries to travel for international matches, as they would have to quarantine on their return to the UK per COVID regulations.

Cavani is not in the Uruguay squad for their upcoming games in September, which may be increasing his tension with United at present.

However, the MEN claims United have no intention of selling Cavani, with him and other players not involved in the international break set to take part in a behind closed doors friendly later in the week.
