Former Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole believes his old club will be title challengers.
Cole is a former Reds midfielder.
"You can never discount Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool," Cole told the Sunday World. "What happened to them last year could not have been predicted by any pundit in football, which is why we love this sport.
"They looked to be an invincible team and untouchable and all of a suddenly it can fall to bits, but the injuries they had caught up with them and they fell away.
"The players in that squad are sensational and they have proved that by what they have done over the last three years.
"They have great leaders, a great manager, real talent and all of a good age. Significantly, the fans are back at Anfield this season.
"I would like to see them add a player to their squad to freshen things up. They need a big name to come through the door as it gives everyone a lift, from the fans to the players who up their game when a big star arrives.
"That is what Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea have done this season and it keep players on their toes.
"When you are at the top, that's when you need to go out and sign a top player.
"That's what Alex Ferguson always did when he was winning trophies at United, but it looks like Klopp and Liverpool don't have the finances to do that at the moment."
