West Ham hero Paolo di Canio believes Cristiano Ronaldo will be disappointed not joining Manchester City.

The departing Juventus striker is finalising a return to Manchester United after speaking with City.

Di Canio told Sky Sports: "By going to City, Cristiano would have betrayed many fans. United is much better for him, not only for romance, but also for the type of football that the two coaches offer.

"Mister Solskjaer gives more freedom to his players than (Pep) Guardiola and CR7 is a fairly anarchic player. If I were a Cristiano, I would still be a bit disheartened since until Thursday the only team that he would have taken him, moreover on a free transfer, it was Manchester City.

"With all that they have won ... But surely Cristiano Ronaldo will have also let this affect him."
