Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel says Trevoh Chalobah's goalscoring debut is a credit to the academy.

Chalobah struck in the opening day defeat of Crystal Palace.

Tuchel remarked, "Trevoh will get all the praise today and it's so deserved. He's played a lot of games in pre-season, he came through almost 90 minutes against Arsenal and Tottenham, then he played 120 against Villarreal and then another 90 today.

"He scored a fantastic goal and we are all so happy for him. It's amazing how these things work out in football. It was very enjoyable and well-deserved.

"He played alongside Reece James and Mason Mount in the end, which shows how strong our Academy is. We love to see young players take their chance, it's what our supporters want to see and it is why we love football - seeing that mix of quality young players alongside strong senior players."
