Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel denies they're Premier League title favourites.
The European champions kickoff their season against Crystal Palace tomorrow.
Tuchel said, "That surprises me, because everyone that can read saw that we came fourth last season. We even needed some help on the last matchday from our rivals to finish in fourth place and to make it a successful season.
"When you come fourth, you're not a favourite in the next season. We have some gaps to close, we let Liverpool pass us in the last match, we have a big gap to close to Man United and Man City. When I see the transfers made by Man United and Man City, I don't see why they would be any worse than last season. They've improved their squads and are very strong teams.
"We are hungry and we are the challengers for the top four, first of all. After that, we are hungry to challenge everybody for the best possible outcome. We're not shy to fight for every title we compete for, which includes cups, the Champions League and the Premier League."
The German also said: "We still need some time to be in the best physical shape, what with groups of players coming back at different times, but the situation has not changed. I hope we can play with this mentality - we want to hunt Man City, Man United and Liverpool, not from January onwards, from Saturday onwards.
"This is the mentality with which we approach this season - we see ourselves as hunters and as challengers to the three teams that finished above us. And of course, there are then 16 teams behind you that want to steal points from you so you have to be aware and at your best."
