Pau Torres is happy to be back in training with Villarreal.
The defender begins a new season revitalised after taking some well-deserved time off after a demanding summer of football at the European Championships and Olympic Games with Spain.
He said, “I expect this to be a very special season. We have a great team and we play in the Champions League which is a really exciting challenge that we want to enjoy. We are going to fight to be in the next round. It will be a very demanding season due to the high level of our opposition and the competition.
“We're on the right track. The team showed that they should have taken away more from the games against Granada and Atlético and that they can compete at any stadium. We were very close to getting the win at the Wanda stadium. I am very pleased and confident in with my team's work.
“We push ourselves, but right now we want to pick up our first win in LaLiga as soon as possible. We will work really hard to put in a great performance and try to beat Deportivo Alavés."
Torres is set to see action in their friendly against SC Braga.
He added, “It will be really good for us to keep getting minutes and getting into the rhythm of competition. Especially for those that haven't played so much in the first few matchdays. It will be a demanding and long year and we need the whole squad. We are all going to be important to face what comes next."
