Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong has shrugged off criticism from Dutch pundits.
Ruud Gullit and Marco van Basten say De Jong has been underperforming for Barca this season.
After their Champions League defeat at Benfica last night, De Jong responded: "I don't mind if people criticise. I don't think I underperformed last year. Look, it's not that I had Messi-like stats, but I think my returns were really good last year, certainly if you look at how many games I have played at the centre-back.
"This season so far I can certainly do better.
"Today I should have scored or given an assist. Everyone is allowed to criticise, I have no problem with that, but it must be with a good substantiation. People should not just say something."
