Manchester United could get a clear run at Declan Rice next summer, according to reports.

The Red Devils are eyeing a holding midfielder at the end of the 2021/22 season.

West Ham star Rice is one of England's most prized young players, catching the eye of both United and Chelsea.

However, the Blues have set their sights on Monaco's Aurelien Tchouameni, per theAthletic.

Should Chelsea pursue a deal for the 21-year-old, it would give United a free run at Rice.

Doubts remain over whether Fred and Scott McTominay are long-term options in midfield for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Rice has proven himself at the Premier League and international level after starring with West Ham and England last year.
