PETALING JAYA: All civil servants are now required to get vaccinated against Covid-19, the public service department (JPA) announced today.

In a statement, JPA said those who fail to get vaccinated by Nov 1 without getting an official exemption will face disciplinary action.

“JPA will make it mandatory for all federal public servants to be vaccinated so as to provide confidence and assurance to the public and ensure the smooth delivery of public services to the rakyat,” it said.

“This is also in line with efforts to restore government services to full operational levels based on the phases of the national recovery plan.”

Civil servants who cannot be vaccinated due to health reasons are to submit their relevant health information to their heads of department. The information has to be verified by a government medical officer.

The statement added that civil servants who have not been vaccinated yet can also get their jabs at walk-in vaccination centres (PPVs) set up by the government

To date, almost 98% of federal civil servants have been vaccinated.

JPA added that the 1.6% of the federal civil servants who are unvaccinated amounts to 16,902 people.

According to the Covid-19 vaccine supply access guarantee special committee (JKJAV), nearly 86% of the country’s adult population have been fully vaccinated as of yesterday while around 94% have received one dose.
