Frank Lampard admits he regrets his role in Fiyako Tomori's departure from Chelsea.

The ex-Blues manager gave Tomori his chance in the first-team during the 2019/20 season.

Competition for places saw the Englishman leave Chelsea for AC Milan in January.

Lampard said: "It was a difficult story because we had too many CBs and I wanted to help him but I'm not sure he understood that.

"It is hard when you are at the top level because it is so cut-throat and there are always difficult periods for young players."
