SHAH ALAM, Sept 22 — A total of 663 entrepreneurs under Yayasan Hijrah Selangor (Hijrah) who faced problems in making repayment have rescheduled their loans amounting to RM6.7 million since early August.

Hijrah’s executive director Dato’ Sri Mohamad Suparadi Md Noor said the initiative, which was introduced after their moratorium ended last July, was aimed at further easing the burden of entrepreneurs affected by Covid-19.

“We do not want to burden entrepreneurs and therefore it is important for us to extend the loan refinancing period so that the payment amount can be reduced, as well as to avoid already-burdened borrowers.

“The loan repayment period has been extended to five years, compared to six months to three years previously,” he said.

Suparadi said this during Media Selangor’s Bual Bicara virtual talk show titled ‘Hijrah Entrepreneurs: Rise against Covid-19’ that was aired live on Media Selangor’s Facebook page and SelangorTV Youtube channel last night.

Previously, a total of 40,000 Hijrah entrepreneurs were given a moratorium on loan payments for six weeks which ended on July 31.

The initiative through the Kita Selangor Package 2.0 involves a financial impact of RM11.35 million.
