Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliott has defended Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk after their collision on Sunday.

Struijk was shown a straight red-card after his tackle left Elliott with a dislocated ankle.

The 18-year-old is now expected to miss at least six months of action due to the injury.

But Elliott insists Struijk did not mean to hurt him, adding that the Belgian should not have been sent off.

He wrote on social media: "Wasn't his fault what so ever!

"Neither was it a red card just a freak accident but these things happen in football. I'll be back stronger 100%. Thanks for all the support."
