Liverpool fullback Adam Lewis has highlighted the influence of Rangers boss Steven Gerrard on his career.

Lewis is currently on-loan at Livingston.

He crossed paths with the Rangers boss in the Scottish League Cup this week.

Rangers got the better of Livingston 2-0 on the night, though there was the consolation of a chat with Gerrard after the game for Lewis.

"Steven Gerrard was my coach at Under-18 and I was his captain. I've got a good relationship with him and spoke to him after the game the other night. He just said to me to get games under my belt and see where I go from there," he told the Daily Record.

“It's great to get advice from someone like that and even off the pitch I've just had a little baby and he sent me flowers for the missus. Stuff like that, he's a great man and I'll always remember that."
