Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is delighted with the way Thiago Silva has kicked off the season.
For his part, Tuchel would be happy to keep hold of the veteran beyond the end of this campaign.
He said, "It's just up to him. I cannot answer if he will extend right now, that will determine on performance.
"If he can perform at the level we expect, I see no obstacles.
"His age does not matter. He is a real professional and he has shown that for many years, I have no doubt that he has what it takes to continue playing at the highest level."
