Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin admits his role has changed under manager Rafa Benitez.

The striker has jumped to a strong start to 2021/22, bagging goals in each of his three Premier League appearances so far this term after posting his best-ever figures throughout last season.

Calvert-Lewin told evertontv: “I think my role has changed as I've matured and grown older and gained more experience and I am more of a senior player in the team now.

"It is my responsibility to lead the team from the front and take the experience I've gained on to the pitch and be a leader.

“It is a role I am fully ready for and thoroughly enjoying.

“I have played a lot of games and know the club and what is expected and it is important to pass on that knowledge."

The England striker also said: "I think there are different ways to be a leader. You can have people who are quiet and lead by example and players who are more vocal.

“I like to think I'm a mixture of both.

“I just try to give my best for the team, score goals and lead in that way. Do things right and work hard and have that rub off on the rest of the guys.

“We want consistency of performance this season and that needs us to focus and do the right things and listen to what the manager is telling us every day."
