Steven Gerrard's Rangers side received a Europa League reality check at home against Lyon.

The French side emerged with an impressive 2-0 away win in their first group stage game of the campaign.

Toko Ekambi scored the first goal of the game in the 23rd minute, before a James Tavernier own goal in the 55th minute settled matters.

Rangers did have chances in the game, with Ryan Kent, John Lundstram, and Joe Aribo all going close.

Tavernier himself had a free-kick hit the post when his side was already 2-0 down.
