Zidane Iqbal had rival offers before committing to Manchester United.

The talented winger was spotted playing for Sale United.

His former coach Stewart Hamer told the Manchester Evening News: “Club scouts used to come around and take the kids to their development centres.

"I think at the time Zidane got taken to United, City and Liverpool as well. My advice was, always just stick to one club's development centre, though, because you get different messages from each academy on how players should develop.

“We used to run competitions at the end of the year and invariably Zidane would do very well, as would some of the other kids to be fair, but he did certainly have quite a bit of talent — very early on you could tell Zidane had a clear ability to control the ball.

"That's the first thing, to see if they're comfortable on the ball. He had a great attitude as well, he was always willing to learn and he played with a big smile on his face and he was quite happy to do whatever we challenged him to do.

“Everyone took their part in being a goalkeeper, for example, and he'd take his part in the net just like everyone else. We had quite a bit of success if you can call it that at that stage, and Zidane was at the heart of that.

“There was times when we would play six-a-side competitions when he would be basically ripping it up and we would take him off and substitute him because it wasn't fair to the other side. Or sometimes we'd put him in goal so he wasn't causing the danger."
