Former Everton striker Kevin Campbell believes they should try again for Rangers defender Nathan Patterson in January.

Patterson was one of the players Rafa Benitez's side made a move for, though Rangers were unwilling to part ways with the Scottish youngster.

Despite missing out on this occasion, Campbell has urged Everton to try their luck again in the next transfer window.

Speaking to Goodison News, Campbell said, “I think you've got to stack your deck now, especially in January.

“Obviously, it will give you a good few months to watch him more. If it's someone the club covet and want to get then you don't mess around.

“Get the deal done and you move forward, I think he would be a good addition and he can learn from a real legend at the club in Seamus Coleman."
