Liverpool great Graeme Souness was full of praise for Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn after their 3-0 defeat at Chelsea.
The Scotsman produced a near perfect performance as goals from Romelu Lukaku (2) and Mateo Kovacic humbled Villa at Stamford Bridge.
McGinn, who was firm in defence and creative in attack, drew plenty of praise from Souness - who felt the Villa man should not have received a yellow card late in the game.
When asked what about McGinn appeals to him, Souness said on Sky Sports: "Everything. He's 25 so got his best five years ahead of him.
"He was talking about not being up to his best last year but that was because he was going back and forth with injury.
"I'm a big fan of his, for me in midfield I don't think I'd particularly like to play against him, he's all action, extremely mobile, aggressive, booked today, I seem to be a Villa fan tonight, but he shouldn't of been booked he won the ball.
"I can't see how the referee sees it as a foul unless the referee heard Jorginho's accompanying squeal which came with the challenge.
"McGinn is a great player who will only get better. If that was going to be his level for the next nine months, Villa will go off at me for saying this, but big clubs will be looking at him."
