Ancelotti admits Mariano sought to leave over the summer.
He said, "He asked to leave at the end of the window but no solution was found.
"He couldn't find a team and he's here with his desire, motivation and fight still intact because that's the only way to work your way into this team.
"He has the same chances as the others and the crucial thing will be his desire, motivation and commitment."
