Liverpool hero Phil Thompson insists they didn't need to buy big this summer with the medical room cleared.
Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Alisson and Jordan Henderson spent prolonged periods on the injury table, but it did not deter the Reds - and Thompson believes they can challenge for the title once again.
"Liverpool will be far better with the players that are coming back," he said to Paddy Power News.
"It'll change the dynamic of how Liverpool will play, with just van Dijk there offensively rather than defensively.
"If everybody stays fit, we (Liverpool) can compete with anybody. If Chelsea continue their good form, and Manchester United's signings have a big impact, they could both have good seasons too."
