Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Edinson Cavani wasn't fit for today's clash with Newcastle.

Before kickoff, Solskjaer said he is excited to see Cristiano Ronaldo return to the Old Trafford pitch.

"We're excited, we can feel the atmosphere in the place, everyone's been happy," the manager says.

"There's here's a buzz about the place. That's how it should be around Man. United. Cristiano's had a fantastic career and he's coming in to help the team, he's not come to show off himself and try to give us that extra edge.

"He's ready, he's focused, professional as always and meticulous in everything e hod's. You look at him and what he's achieved in his career. He wants to prove to him and not just me what he can do."

On Cavani, the manager added: “He's still not ready.

"He got a little knock in training, so hopefully won't be too long."
