Ex-Arsenal defender Tony Adams admits he was offered a job at Southampton by manager Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Adams was assistant boss to Harry Redknapp at Portsmouth in 2006, and eventually became their permanent boss.

He was sacked after 16 matches in February 2009.

On Sky Sports, Adams said: "Ralph (Hasenhuttl) called me a couple of years ago, I'd just had a knee operation.

"His assistant (Rohl) had just left and he called me and asked me to give him a hand at Southampton."

Eventually, Hasenhuttl prompted Kelvin Davis from the academy to his first-team staff, per the Daily Echo.
