Manchester United was Timo Werner's preferred destination when he was at RB Leipzig, according to reports in Germany.
Chelsea activated Werner's release clause of £47.5million during the summer of 2020.
But things could've worked out differently if Werner got his first wish.
According to Sport Bild, the Germany international sent a WhatsApp message to his consultant, Murat Lokurlu, stating that "Man United was his favorite".
Liverpool were also interested in signing the former Stuttgart man.
However, it was Chelsea won the race for Werner's signature.
The 25-year-old struggled in his debut season at Stamford Bridge, scoring six goals in 35 Premier League appearances.
