Former Manchester United assistant coach Carlos Quieroz has been appointed as the new coach of Egypt.

The 68-year-old was Alex Ferguson's assistant at Manchester United over two spells.

He has also managed Real Madrid, Portgual, Iran and Colombia.

Quieroz will now be tasked with leading Egypt and star player Mohamed Salah to African Cup of Nations glory and the World Cup next year.
