KUALA TERENGGANU – The Ministry of Education (MOE) has announced that schools nationwide will be reopened in stages.

While students are scheduled to receive their vaccination, several teachers are still refusing to get jabbed.

In Terengganu, around 100 such teachers have been identified.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said the state MOE has been instructed to persuade the teachers to receive the vaccine as soon as possible.

“I understand that while some have agreed to take the vaccine, others remain stiff-necked.

“I hope they will consider [taking the vaccine] for the sake of maslahat (public benefit),” he said.

Ahmad Samsuri added that such behaviour from teachers without comorbidities will affect the community and cause inconvenience to themselves.

Yesterday, Kosmo! reported that the MOE is discussing with the Public Service Department (JPA) to seek further action towards 2,500 teachers nationwide who refused to get vaccinated.

Minister of Education Datuk Radzi Jidin said that there were two main groups: one which was rejected due to health issues, and the other which rejected it upfront.
