Juventus sporting director Federico Cherubini admits there was no dissuading Cristiano Ronaldo from leaving last month.
Ronaldo quit Juve for a return to Manchester United in the final days of the summer market.
And Cherubini concedes there was no chance of changing the veteran's mind in talks.
He explained, "Let's say right away that there was no margin to keep him. Once Cristiano Ronaldo spoke to us like he spoke to us, there couldn't be a different ending.
"At this point, he was very direct in expressing his will. You couldn't force a person to stay in a context that they no longer recognised."
