Denmark U19 coach Lars Knudsen has explained calling up Arsenal striker Mika Biereth.
Biereth qualifies through his Danish mother, though this is his first call-up to the national team.
Knudsen told Bold: "Mika was three years ago with a couple of times around our U15 talent center, where he was inside and showed off. Since then, he has been in our database, and he has undergone a really nice development, especially in recent years.
"Last season he played a really nice season for Fulham, where he scored a lot of goals and made a lot of assists. At that time, we unfortunately did not have the opportunity to follow up on his performance, because we could not travel there due to corona, and we did not play any national matches during that period.
"Therefore, we have only been able to see it from a distance, but from this summer we have had the opportunity to come over to visit him, so I have visited him and have seen him in action over there.
"Mika understands everything Danish and speaks a little himself. When I have talked to him, I speak in Danish, and he answers in English, so it works really well. In relation to communicating with both people in the staff and the players on the national team, it is no problem, because everyone at this level is used from their everyday life to a lot going on in English in the clubs."
