GEORGE TOWN – The Covid-19 vaccination programme for adolescents will kick off in Penang tomorrow.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said in a statement that to start, students aged 16 and 17 who have a permanent address in Penang but who study in boarding schools outside the state will be given their jabs first.
“The students will get their appointment dates through the MySejahtera app and their parents or guardians are required to accompany them to the vaccination centres.
“They must bring along documents such as consent forms.
“Starting tomorrow, between 9am and 12pm, vaccination for all students aged between 16 and 17 will begin at six vaccination centres,” Chow said.
The six Covid-19 vaccination centres (PPVs) are the SPICE Convention Centre, the exposition site in Seberang Jaya, Vangohh Eminent Hotel, Dewan Perda Convention Centre, Dewan Millennium in Kepala Batas and Dewan Serbaguna in Sg Bakap.
For those with comorbidities, vaccinations will be given at hospitals nearest to them and they will receive their appointments through the MySejahtera app as well.
“It is believed that this is the first wave of vaccinations to begin early while the majority of schoolgoing children will be immunised when they commence their school term next month.” – The Vibes, September 21, 2021
