SHAH ALAM, Sept 27 — About 60 houses in Sections 4 and 10 here were affected by the flash floods that hit the city yesterday evening.

Kota Anggerik state assemblyman Najwan Halimi said around 20 houses in Section 4 and 40 homes in Section 10, were flooded.

According to him, the flash floods started at 5.30pm and receded at about 9pm.

“There were no casualties nor major property damage because the residents were prepared for it.

“The Kota Anggerik Community Service Centre will immediately channel assistance to help the victims clean their homes,” he said while surveying the affected areas last night.

Najwan said the cause of the flash floods was still unknown but it could be due to the drainage system or that the flood gate to Lake Shah Alam was not opened.

“Another flash floods incident also took place in Section 13, which was caused by an overflow from Sungai Damansara, the river should have been deepened because it is no longer able to hold a lot of water.

“I have raised this matter last year and will check with the authorities whether the river deepening work has been done or not,” he said.
