Paul Pogba is leaning towards signing a new contract and staying with Manchester United.

Off contract in June, The Athletic reports United's 4-1 victory against Newcastle on Saturday has had a significant bearing on the World Cup winner's thinking about his future and that he is having serious second thoughts about leaving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

Ronaldo's return and Saturday's events have had a significant positive impact on Pogba, with the feeling now that the midfielder staying at the club is becoming a realistic possibility.

Pogba took his tally of assists this season to seven in just four top-flight matches after setting up Bruno Fernandes and Jesse Lingard for their goals against Steve Bruce's men.

While talks are expected to resume in the near future, the France international will be able to speak to and sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in January if he has not signed fresh terms by then.
