Belgian great Marc Degryse is keen for Manchester City ace Kevin de Bruyne to be appreciated by home fans.
De Bruyne featured in City's 5-1 Champions League win at Club Brugge - his first club appearance on Belgian soil in 11 years.
Before kickoff, Degryse said: "Hopefully he will not be whistled for those few years at Genk, because that is not necessary for anything. At the age of thirty, De Bruyne is an internationally acclaimed player and a world star.
"Everyone looks up to him. Let us be proud and show appreciation when he does something great again later.
"De Bruyne deserves respect and applause, no whistling."
