Barcelona president Joan Laporta admits they made an attempt for PSG star Neymar this past summer.
However, Laporta insists the Brazilian's asking price was out of reach of their budget.
He told RAC1 today: "We did not have the results of the economic situation. We thought we had a margin. We made an attempt and the information on Neymar was not what we thought.
"We were told that he wanted to leave, that he did not want to continue and in the end he stayed.
"I am not disappointed, it is the law of supply and demand. But the result of not having recruited him was good."
