Barcelona great Rivaldo is backing Xavi's appointment as Ronald Koeman's replacement.
Rayo Vallecano's victory over Barca last night saw coach Koeman sacked. Al Sadd boss Xavi is the favourite to succeed the Dutchman.
"After the departure of Koeman, I would like very much that Xavi Hernández had the opportunity to be the new coach of FC Barcelona," Rivaldo wrote on social media.
"I have a lot of confidence in him to get the club out of this situation."
Rivaldo and Xavi played together with Barca.
