Liverpool needed two second-haif goals to overcome Preston North-End in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

The Championship outfit produced a stubborn performance against Jurgen Klopp's side.

But the deadlock was broken after 62 minutes when Takumi Minamino neatly finished Neco Williams' cross.

Divock Origi put the result beyond doubt with a marvellous backheel with six minutes remaining.

Klopp named an entirely changed Liverpool side to the one which thrashed Manchester United 5-0 on Sunday.

Preston looked like they could produce a shock in the first-half, but Frankie McAvoy's side were unable to take their chances.

The Reds are now into the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
