Sampdoria assistant coach Andrea Tarozzi says they deserved their 2-1 win against Spezia.

Tarozzi stepped in for suspended coach Roberto D'Aversa as Antonio Candreva dominated in the night for Samp.

"We arrived from well-played games, in which we had collected less than what we produced," Tarozzi told DAZN after the match. “Today, it was a different Sampdoria, more concrete than beautiful.

“All in all, it's a well-deserved win. We hope that our championship can start tonight.

“The defensive phase made the difference; the spirit of sacrifice determines the result. If this is missing, then you struggle. I'm not interested in seeing a conservative Sampdoria, but 11 lads who never give up."
