Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa has dropped a hint that loanee Ian Poveda could struggle to make his way back into the side upon his return at the end of the season.

The 21-year-old is currently at Blackburn Rovers as he searches for regular game time but has struggled to make much of an impact since his move in the summer.

Bielsa has commented on the process of integrating youth into his side and claimed that Poveda is someone who currently hasn't managed to do that successfully.

"That's why I am very careful to position the player to play. Shackleton to be a starter took a long time. In the games he played, he played better or worse, but at the necessary level.

"Cresswell, Pascal the same. That's what we try with all the young players.

"The fact Gotts, Stevens, Alfie, Hosannah are not here, I see that as a failure [of mine], or Poveda.

"All those who were close and did not take the leap. Those players leaving have the opportunity to come back again."
