Manchester United assistant manager Mike Phelan believes the crowd played their part in a thrilling 3-2 win over Atalanta in the Champions League.

The Red Devils were 0-2 down at home against the Italian side, and facing the prospect of being bottom of their group.

But they roared back with three unanswered goals, with Cristiano Ronaldo netting the winner with a fine header.

Phelan tweeted post-game:"Another fantastic @ChampionsLeague evening at Old Trafford last night.

"Magnificent 12th man as we kicked into the Stretford End second half. We really do appreciate that roar driving us on. See you all again Sunday."
