Rangers legend Ally McCoist admits he was concerned about Newcastle United's reported interest in Steven Gerrard.
Steve Bruce is expected to be sacked this week after the club's £300m takeover.
Gerrard is one of several names being linked with Toon, along with Lucien Favre and Frank Lampard.
When asked whether the reports scared him, McCoist told talkSPORT Breakfast: "I'd be slightly concerned."
He added: "Stevie had a great year, winning the title. We haven't started so well this year, however, we are still top of the league.
"Naturally, he would be a name that would come into that equation."
